Where it all began
The establishment of the Duovorm E-tail Group is marked by a marvellous story. Would you be interested to know that, for instance, the founders Niels and Ferniand were teachers before conquering the market with Duovorm? In this part we would like to welcome you into our history and introduce to you where it all began for Duovorm E-tail Group.
From garage box to multiple impressive warehouses
Before starting what is now known as Duovorm E-tail Group, our founders Niels Ettema and Ferniand Vos were actually teachers of technology and woodworking. However, their passion for DIY projects and furniture making extended beyond teaching hours. Even in their free time they were immerged in various projects. They soon discovered that there was a significant gap in the market: a webshop where one would be able to easily purchase all products for furniture making – even in small quantities. Naturally they thought to themselves: Where there is a gap, one must fill it! Hence, in 2013, the webshop Duovorm BV was established. Niels and Ferniand set up a garage as their temporary storage location for products they would offer through the webshop. Nevertheless, it soon became apparent that the garage could not keep up with the rapid growth the shop was experiencing. The garage has since been replaced by several impressive warehouses, a showroom where we are able to welcome our customers and suppliers and two physical branches located in Veendam and Groningen. Moreover, the range of products that we offer has also expanded, as previously mentioned this is distributed across multiple shops. Each of our shops represents an extensive selection for both individual customers and business clients seeking the finest products for tiling, furniture making and other projects.
Key milestones of the Duovorm E-tail Group
There are countless milestones that we are extremely proud of. It has proven to be a complex job to narrow it down to just a few. However, we have done our best!
- In 2017, both our founders decided to dedicate their time fully to Duovorm E-tail Group, since managing the growth of the company and teaching at the same time became impossible. Therefore, they made the decision to quit their job as teacher and started to focus on Duovorm fulltime. .
- In 2021, we seized the opportunity to acquire Cermic Tools and its related webshops, which specialized in tiling tools. This opportunity was wholeheartedly embraced by us!
- In 2023, we shipped our 500,000th package. This milestone was one we could only dream of a few years back.
- As of 2024, the number of people in our team is north of 50. A top-notch team that we are committed to expanding.
